family holiday

I just returned from Salem, OR where the kids and I had a nice visit and holiday. Jeff hosted the brunch on Saturday and Jeff, Bart, Ginny and I had breakfast together before I had to head for the airport. Marv was very happy to see me home again.

The bad news is that we were going to go to mom's today but she called and said that they have a vomiting/diarrhea bug over there and thought that we should not come. The Spokane contingent probably brought it with them. :-((

healing

Well it's 4 weeks today since my surgery and it is a slow heal!! I did work in my studio for a few hours today. I finished a round robin doll so it can go on its way but it's going to S. Cal. so I may hold it afew days until the fires calm down. I still get a tired sore back and shoulder after some light efforts. The skin on the inside of my hand up to the shoulder feels like the nerve endings are right on the skin surface and are very painful even to a light touch.

Okay enough whining. I'm lucky. The tumor was benign so just have to get healed. I am somewhat impatient but try to rest and heal.

I had a nice telephone visit with Jeff tonight. Christmas will be at his house again this year so I have to check my calendar and figure out when to go up there.

Both Marv and me are looking forward to Brad and Jacqui coming next week, too. I better kick this house into shape!!!

I'm back

Well, my surgery turned into a major event so I've been trying to heal for awhile now. My computer crashed the day I went in for surgery but it's back good as new. I'll be up and running soon also.

surgery date changed

Well after my notifying everyone they changed the date on me. So now surgery is Tuesday morning. I think that's better, anyway, than late afternoon. Marv will send out e mails to family members after the surgery to let them know that everything is okay.

In the meantime I'm working on unfinished items. I took 5 baby quilts to the machine quilter yesterday and will finish up hand work on two jackets today. So I'm keeping busy!!

surgery

I guess that it's time to talk about it. I will soon have surgery to remove a 'mass' from my chest. It really isn't very large and it has to come out before it does cause more problems. It is located in my upper left chest, behind my esoghagus, in front of #1 thoracic vertabrae, and at the top of my left lung. My body has grown numerous benign cysts and tumors in the past so I'm hoping that this is just another one.

I have the best cardiovascular surgeon in Vegas and really felt comfortable with him so we are just waiting for a date.

He will go in under my clavical and also between my ribs on the left side with scopes so he will know more when he gets in there. If it's just aanother loose cyst or tumor he will just remove it, biopsy and chances are it will be done. If it is on the lung and is malignant he will remove the upper lobe of the left lung at the same time. He still feels that we are getting it in time so I probably won't even need more treatment.

This was discovered while having a complete heart workup following chest pains that started in Spokane. The heart and arteries are fine. The problem was the same old hiatal hernia and GIRD or maybe this as well.

Any way, I'm feeling very positive and Marv is trying to, also. It is just slowing me down a little and I'm keeping busy until we know more. I really feel that everything will be okay!!!!
